Install the stud with red loctite until it bottoms out, back off half a turn, torque the head to spec immediately and leave until the loctite cures. Then either remove the head if it wasn't complete, or just loosen and retorque the nuts if it was already ready to go on. I don't see anyone else saying to do it that way, so I'm not sure if the loctite is necessary. It was an instructor at school who drag races and has built a lot of engines who told me to do it this way.
